dance dance

On December 7, dancers, improvisers, yoginis, and martial artists will share the stage for Open Studio/Open Mind, a program that will showcase and celebrate the diversity and talent of Northwest Vista College's students and faculty in dance and kinesiology. The evening will feature movement-based performances for all ages, including Flamenco, ballet, movement improvisation, Capoeira, jazz, swing and ballroom dance, contemporary dance, yoga, tai chi and original choreography by dance composition students.

The audience will also enjoy the San Antonio premiere of Six Stories Down. Across the pages of the dictionary and through the sixth-story window, past elegant ballrooms, ancient gardens, and smoky rooms, to the edge of the cliff and down the rabbit hole of love, this unique dance theater event will explore man's fallen nature. The performance will feature original choreography and script by Jayne King, who directs the dance program at Northwest Vista, and music by multimedia instructor Bill Colangelo. Six Stories Down will be performed by Jayne's modern dance and improvisation students.

The free event will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the McAllister Auditorium at San Antonio College. For more information, please contact Jayne King at 348-2225.
