Public Administration Club Honors Community Leaders
& Travis Third-Graders

The
San Antonio College Public Administration Club recently
held an awards ceremony to honor outstanding community
leaders for their public service and three Travis
Elementary School 3rd graders, who won the Henry B.
Gonzalez Essay Writing Contest and will receive $250
scholarships to attend San Antonio College in the
future.
Special
Guests included:
* Congressman Charlie Gonzalez presented the scholarships
that honored his father, Henry B. Gonzalez
*
Dolores Huerta, co-founder of the United Farm Workers
of America and current President of the Dolores Huerta
Foundation received the Henry B. Gonzalez Lifetime
Achievement Award for her lifetime dedication to put
into action her unwavering vision for equality and
fairness for deprived communities.
*
Charles Patrick Garcia, founder of Sterling Financial
Group of Commerce and named “one of the 100
most influential Hispanics in the U.S.” by Hispanic
Business Magazine, Garcia has also served in educational
leadership roles as both a Presidential and Gubernatorial
appointee in Florida and across the nation. He and
his wife Cristina Avila received the Henry B. Gonzalez
Public Service and Integrity Award.

Red and Charline McCombs, local business owner and
philanthropist, received the SAC Public Administration
Club Community Service Award for their many charitable
endeavors.
*
Cindy Segovia, current employee with Bexar County,
received the SAC Public Administration Club Outstanding
Alumnus Award.
*
Venus Prado, local artist and educator, received the
SAC Public Administration Club outstanding Community
Partner Award.
*
Three 3rd grade students from Travis Elementary were
winners of the Henry B. Gonzalez Essay Writing Contest
