SAC's Truett L. Chance Scholarship Deadline is July 1

  Truett Chance

San Antonio College has announced the new Truett L. Chance Scholarship, in honor of the late professor, chairperson, dean and president of San Antonio College, who served from 1947-1982. The scholarship is for $750 per semester, beginning in the Fall 2007 Semester, and may be renewed up to a total of four successive fall and spring semesters for a total of $3,000. The application deadline is July 1, 2007.

To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria at the time of application:

1. must enroll in courses that include the social sciences, though the student may have any degree major or be an undeclared major,


2. must be a San Antonio College sophomore with a minimum of 24 and maximum of 36 college credit hours completed toward an associate's degree,

3. may be either a full-time (minimum 12 credit hours per semester) or a part-time (6-11 credit hours per semester) student,


4. must demonstrate financial need, but ineligibility for federal student aid does not exclude an applicant for consideration,

5. must have at the time of application for the scholarship a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and must possess and maintain a minimum of 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale during the scholarship period, and


6.
must be a U.S. citizen and resident of the state of Texas.

Applicants must complete and submit the Truett L. Chance Scholarship Cover Sheet, the standard ACCD Scholarship Application and any supporting documentation by July 1, 2007. For application forms, go to http://www.accd.edu/sac/sacmain/html/chance.html.
