Vista College Tai Chi instructor Sal De la Rosa will
receive one of the highest achievement awards in the
martial art of Taijiquan. At a ceremony held in Eugene,
Oregon on August 26, De la Rosa will be inducted into
the family lineage of Master Chen Zhenglei of Chen
Village (China), the birthplace of Chen style Taijiquan.
Master Zhenglei is the nineteenth generation descendent
of the Chen family and the eleventh generation inheritor
of Chen style Taijiquan.
According
to a recent interview in International Magazine of
Tai Chi Chuan, Zhenglei’s goal is to train teachers
all over the world the original style of Taijiquan
developed by his family over a thousand years ago.
De la Rosa has made the top ranks in Master Zhenglei’s
system, which means that he has become a “great
teacher” of Taijiquan.
Next summer
De la Rosa will travel to Chen Family Village, China,
where he will be inducted into Master Zhenglei’s
lineage and become a member of the twelfth generation
inheritor of Chen style Taijiquan.
“We
are fortunate to have such a knowledgeable instructor
in our kinesiology department,” said discipline
leader Vincent Bradford. “Anyone who is interested
in learning Tai Chi or Chi Gung from a master teacher
should enroll in one of Master Sal De la Rosa’s
classes.”
