Randolph-Brooks
Federal Credit Union (RBFCU) has established a $50,000
Founder’s Scholarship at Northeast Lakeview
College, the newest of the Alamo Community Colleges.
Endowed scholarships exist for perpetuity as only
the interest earned on the principal is awarded. Managed
by the ACCD Foundation, the accrued funds from the
RBFCU Founder’s Scholarship will be used to
award scholarships to generations of future Northeast
Lakeview College students.
The
Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union Founder’s
Scholarship will be awarded to a Northeast Lakeview
College student based on both financial need and academic
merit. The financial award will range from $750 per
semester for a full-time student and $500 per semester
for a part-time student. The first student scholarship
from the proceeds of this contribution will be awarded
in Fall 2008.
With
24 locations in and around the greater San Antonio
and Austin area and their corporate offices located
in northeast Bexar County, RBFCU is committed to supporting
the communities it serves. “It is a rare and
rewarding experience to institute a founder’s
scholarship to a newly-established institution of
higher education,” says Randy Smith, Randolph-Brooks
FCU CEO. “We understand the importance of a
college education and this scholarship will allow
us to build futures for college students for generations.”
Randolph-Brooks FCU is one of the first contributing
donors to Northeast Lakeview College and has established
the largest scholarship to date.
“Building
a strong foundation is important as we [Northeast
Lakeview College] become a full-service community
college,” says Dr. Eric Reno, Northeast Lakeview
College president. “We are delighted to have
the support of community partners like RBFCU that
will have a direct impact on our students for years
to come.”
In
addition to the Founder’s Endowment Scholarship,
contributions are also being accepted to the General
Scholarship Fund. Other donation opportunities, including
the naming of buildings, facilities, and smaller institutional
items are also available. Contact the Northeast Lakeview
College Office of College Development at (210) 590-5469
for more information.
