The
Alamo Community Colleges’ fall 2007 enrollment
of 50,296 is the
highest fall enrollment ever recorded by the ACCD.
This enrollment
figure also makes the Alamo Community Colleges’
the largest provider of
higher education in the area.
Enrollment for fall 2007 at each of
the ACCD colleges is: Northwest
Vista College-10,720; Palo Alto College-8,024; St.
Philip’s
College-9,944; San Antonio College-21,510 and Northeast
Lakeview
College-98*.
“This enrollment increase reflects
the fact that the community and our
students recognize the outstanding value that a college
education at
one of our colleges represents,” said Alamo
Community Collegs’
Chancellor Dr. Bruce H. Leslie. “We offer a
top quality college
education for a very affordable cost to make higher
education
accessible to as many members of our community as
possibe,” he added.
The Alamo Community Colleges, Northwest
Vista College, Palo Alto
College, St. Philip’s College, San Antonio College
and Northeast
Lakeview College, enroll more than half of the college
population in
San Antonio. The ACCD colleges offer day, evening
and weekend classes,
plus Internet courses and telecourses. Several of
the colleges also
offer weekend degree options that allow students to
earn a two-year
associate’s degree by attending classes only
on weekends.
The Alamo Community Colleges consist
of five colleges serving the Bexar
County area: Palo Alto College, St. Philip’s
College, San Antonio
College, Northeast Lakeview College and Northwest
Vista College. The
Alamo Community Colleges serve more than 75,000 students
each semester.
