SLI Students Attend Leadership Summit at Palo Alto College

The Alamo Community Colleges Student Leadership Institute held their 2007 “Leadership for Today’s World” Summit at Palo Alto College on Saturday, September 22, 2007. This year’s summit was a great success with more than 70 Student Leadership Institute students in attendance from the Alamo Community Colleges. As keynote speaker and overseeing Director for the Student Leadership Institute, Dr. Adelina Silva, District Director of Student and Community Program Development, presented Leadership: A Necessity for Today’s World. Additionally, various community leaders and professionals invited to the summit contributed their valuable business savvy to the students in breakout sessions and presentations.
The Student Leadership Institute, established in the fall of 2001, is a personal empowerment initiative under the Office of the District Director of Student and Community Program Development. This program provides intensive leadership training for students, concerning all sectors of business, media, non-profit, private, public and educational sectors. The ACCD Leadership Institute provides information on scholarships and internships, networking opportunities with area leaders, and possible travel opportunities to Austin and Washington, D.C. The SLI provides intensive overviews of issues that are important for effective leadership in any environment.
