Lakeview College Construction Still on Track
Despite Summer Rain

Construction workers make vertical
progress on the Science Building on the new Northeast
Lakeview College campus
(September
19, 2007) Construction of the the Alamo Community
Colleges’ new Northeast Lakeview College campus
(NLC) is moving forward much faster now that the record
summer rains have gone. Despite only having ten days
without rain in the month of July, the new Science
Building on the NLC campus is “going vertical”
and construction is still on target.
Currently,
construction workers are placing the formwork and
are getting ready to pour concrete for the second
floor slab. When completed, the Science Building will
include six medium size classrooms, eight instructional
labs, one open science study lab, numerous faculty
offices and laboratory prep areas. Programs and classes
for Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy, Physiology, Geology
and Physics will be held in the building,
The
new structure has a slab on grade, a two story concrete
frame with steel roof joists and a roof deck. The
exterior of the building will be brick veneer with
sandblasted granite sills, aluminum storefront windows,
with several exterior metal panels and canopies.
Construction
of the new campus’ first five buildings, including
the Science Building,
Physical Plant, Academic Building, Library and Learning
Resource Center and Career Technology Building is
scheduled for completion in the early Summer of 2008.
Classes are scheduled to commence in the Fall of 2008.

Northeast Lakeview College
Currently under construction, the Alamo Community
Colleges’ new Northeast Lakeview College campus
will be located at Loop 1604 and Kitty Hawk Road and
will provide over 365,000 square feet of academic
space. While the new campus is under construction,
Northeast Lakeview College serves over 3,500 students
and offers a full course selection at its 75,000 square
foot facility located at 8300 Pat Booker Road. Operating
under a partnership with San Antonio College and St.
Philip’s College, the new Northeast Lakeview
College campus is scheduled to open in Fall 2008.
