SAN ANTONIO (Nov. 30, 2007) --- It’s an achievement St. Philip’s College can proudly boast about for the next four years and many more years to come. Three programs at St. Philip’s College were rated Exemplary in a Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board evaluation. A reception to recognize this honor recently took place.
The three programs that were rated as some of the best in the state were Culinary Arts, Respiratory Therapy and Physical Therapy Assistant. The ceremony in the college’s Heritage Room recognized all from those areas as well as those from the rest of the college who were key to those successes. Dr. Adena Williams Loston, SPC president, led the event to honor the college as a whole.
“This is the type of recognition that should not be filed away in a closet,” Dr. Loston explained for celebrating students. “The coordinating board has said that you all are enrolled in some of the best programs in our state,” she said. “What better marketing tool do we have than you?”
“This is an achievement that will look great on your resume’,” Dr. Loston said as she continued in praise for her teams. “I encourage you to stay focused. We can all bask in your glow.”
The trio of SPC operations was superior in a rigorous evaluation, according to David Crouch, deputy director of standards and oversight for the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board in Austin.
The coordinating board works with the Texas Legislature, Governor, governing boards, higher education institutions and other entities to help Texas meet the goals of the state’s higher education plan.
