SAN ANTONIO—Dr. Ana M. “Cha” Guzmán, president of Palo Alto College, has been appointed by the College Board, a not-for-profit membership association whose mission is to connect students to college success and opportunity, to serve on its Board of Trustees. Among the College Board’s best-known programs are the SAT®, the PSAT/NMSQT®, and the Advanced Placement Program® (AP®).
Trustees are responsible for making legal and fiduciary decisions for the corporation; approving its mission, strategic goals and objectives; establishing policies related to membership, programs, and services; approving the annual budget; and advising the College Board president.
“I’m extremely honored to have been selected to serve as a College Board trustee,” Dr. Guzmán said. “I’m looking forward to working with College Board President Gaston Caperton on a variety of issues that will continue to ensure students nationally and internationally achieve success in higher education.”
According to its website, the College Board annually serves seven million students and their parents, 23,000 high schools, and 3,500 colleges through major programs and services in college admissions, guidance, assessment, financial aid, enrollment, and teaching and learning.
