Alamo Community Colleges' Student Leadership Institute to Host Young Leader’s Conference

Young Leaders Conference

The Student Leadership Institute of the Alamo Community Colleges will host the Young Leader’s Conference at San Antonio College in the McAllister Auditorium on Saturday, February 23, 2008 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This year’s theme is: Today’s Students, Tomorrow’s Leaders.

Student leaders have planned a day of motivational and informative workshops designed to promote educational opportunities and leadership development for area high school students. Information will be available on more than 300 degree and certificate programs at the Alamo Community Colleges: Northwest Lakeview College, Northwest Vista College, Palo Alto College, San Antonio College, and St. Philip’s College. Parent workshops will also be available to identify financial aid resources, college enrollment and general information on how to support the educational pursuits of their young adults. Approximately 500 area high school juniors and seniors will be in attendance. Ten (10) scholarships totaling $10,000 will be announced at the conference.

High school juniors and seniors interested in attending the Young Leader’s Conference can download the registration form. The conference is free to all high school students. High school seniors can also download information on scholarship eligibility requirements. The application deadline for the conference registration and scholarship application is February 9, 2008.
