NLC Employee Appointed to State Committee by Governor Rick Perry
AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry appointed Tivy Whitlock of Mico, Texas, to the Committee on Licensing Standards for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2011. The committee, created by Senate Bill 758 during the 80th Legislative Session, will make recommendations for policy and statutory changes that relate to licensing standards and facility inspections. They will also analyze the deaths of children in substitute care and what licensing standards were violated during such incidents.
Whitlock is a continuing education specialist for Northeast Lakeview College, one of The Alamo Colleges, located in Bexar, County. She is a Governor Perry appointee to the Governor’s EMS and Trauma Advisory Council and a former appointee to the Texas Commission on Human Rights. She was the 1997 recipient of the Sprint PCS Unsung Hero Award.
She received a bachelor’s degree from Southwestern University and master’s degree in Adult and Higher Education from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
