Alamo Colleges Launch First Online Catalog

The Alamo Colleges first online college catalog went live Monday, May 4, 2009. The catalog is the culmination of one and a half years of work to convert the separate, printed catalogs of the Alamo Colleges five colleges into an online resource. The online catalog, called the eCatalog, is searchable, and makes it easier for students to access the degree and course offerings of all of the colleges at once.

A key feature of the eCatalog is “My Catalog,” which allows students to pull information from each of the colleges into personalized documents they can use to design their degree plan. This personal catalog can be accessed from any computer anywhere, using the student’s email address and a password they create.

“This is an effort which has required a tremendous level of cooperation, dedication and commitment on the part of the faculty from all of our colleges, as well as college and district staff members and the members of the eCatalog committee,” said Alamo Colleges Chancellor Dr. Bruce H. Leslie. “They are to be commended for successfully completing this project, which makes the Alamo Colleges more accessible than ever to our students and prospective students,” he added.

The eCatalog contains information common to all the colleges, such as admissions procedures, registration information, tuition rates, financial aid, academic standards, student responsibilities and regulations, graduation requirements and the shared core curriculum, which is a selection of academic courses approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and required for any degree plan at the Alamo Colleges.

The eCatalog also includes information particular to each college, such as the president’s message, a college overview, a listing of student support services, scholarships particular to the college, faculty and staff listings, location information and maps, descriptions for courses outside of the core curriculum offered by each college and degree and certificate plans offered by each college. Course numbers and descriptions have been aligned to make it easier for students to compare degree plan requirements.

At the Alamo Colleges, high quality education and low costs provide exceptional value to students and alumni who are major contributors to the economy and culture of our community.  For more information, visit our website at www.alamo.edu.
