ST. PHILIP'S COLLEGE RESPIRATORY CARE STUDENTS WIN SCHOLARSHIPS
Four St. Philip's College students were awarded scholarships by the Texas Society for Respiratory Care during the group's annual convention held recently in San Antonio. The winners, students in the St. Philip's College Respiratory Care Technology program, were selected from among their peers throughout the state in a competitive process based on research papers each student submitted for review.
Each year, the Texas Society for Respiratory Care Foundation awards scholarships to students based on annual contributions. This year, five scholarships were awarded, with St. Philip's students winning the top four scholarship amounts. Scholarship winners are: Guadalupe Bustamante ($1,000); Russell Seay ($750); Dianna Clark ($650); and Laverne McCartney ($500).
The Respiratory Care Technology program at St. Philip's College is fully accredited through the Committee on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, and in compliance with essentials and standards of the Committee on Accreditation of Respiratory Care (CoARC). The program is a sequenced learning experience offering classroom, laboratory, and clinical experiences relevant to the practice of state-of-the-art respiratory care. Graduates of the program receive an Associates of Applied Science degree and are eligible to apply for the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential and other clinical specialty examinations.
