ACCD PRE-PROPOSAL CONFERENCE ATTRACTS OVER FORTY COMPANIES
More than forty (40) architectural and engineering firms attended the Alamo Community College District (ACCD)
pre-proposal conference last night. The purpose of the pre-conference was to provide the architectural and
engineering firms an overview of the scope of the projects to be completed at the various colleges of the ACCD
that total $14.18 million in the construction and renovation of facilities. In a normal pre-proposal conference
less than eight firms attend such meetings.
Renovation and construction projects include an Advance
Technology Center at Northwest Vista College, a Science/Occupational Technology Building at Palo Alto College,
an Aerospace Technology Building at St. Philip’s College Southwest Campus, and a Radio, Television, and Film
Center at San Antonio College.
Charlie Conner, Chairman of the ACCD Buildings, Grounds and Sites Selection
Committee, and a new member of the ACCD Board of Trustees said, "Tonight was an affirmation by the private
sector in their belief that the ACCD will conduct business in an open and fair manner. I have been impressed
with the professionalism of personnel in the ACCD and its colleges. They need our support in providing them
with the best technical expertise we can find in the private sector."
Representatives from local
architectural and engineering firms present included Marmon Mok, Goetting and Associates, O’Neill Conrad
Oppelt Architects, Bay Architects, Kell Munoz Architects, Ford, Powell and Carson Inc., PBK Architects,
Zapata and Associates, and thirty-six other companies.
