ST. PHILIP'S COLLEGE FALL PLAY AUDITIONS SCHEDULED AUG. 24

The St. Philip's College Department of Fine Arts will hold open auditions Aug. 24 for acting roles in two plays scheduled to be presented this fall at the local community college. The St. Philip's College Theatre Program will cast for characters in Angel Blood: the Nat Turner Rebellion, an original play written by faculty member Vincent Hardy, plus the Shakespeare classic Hamlet, as adapted for local production by faculty member Charles Jeffries. Auditions for both shows are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the Watson Fine Arts Center, Room 103, on the St. Philip's College main campus (1801 Martin Luther King Drive).

Angel Blood will feature two female actors and Hamlet a total of 14 (a mix of male and female). Rehearsals for both plays begin Aug. 25. Angel Blood performances are scheduled Sept. 17, 18, 24 and 25. Hamlet will serve as this year's St. Philip's College entry in the American College Theatre Festival and is scheduled for shows Oct. 29, 30 and 31, plus Nov. 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13.
