ST. PHILIP'S COLLEGE TO HOLD FREE SCIENCE FAIR WORKSHOP FOR AREA STUDENTS OCT. 25
The St. Philip's College will hold its annual one-day Science Fair Workshop for area students Saturday, Oct. 25, from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the college cafeteria on the school's main campus (1801 Martin Luther King Drive). The workshop, presented by the St. Philip's College Natural Sciences Department and the college Science Club and partners, is open to students in first through twelfth grades. The St. Philip's College Science Fair Workshop is designed to help students hone their research skills and general knowledge concerning scientific presentations. Topics to be addressed include: conservation research, pointers on successful science fair projects and ideas from nature. The workshop will feature tours of campus facilities as well as presentations and informational booths by representatives from the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority, Edward Aquifer Authority, the Mitchell Lake Wetlands Society, Holistic Resource Management of Texas, SAWS, Natural Resources Conservation Service and Southwest Research Institute, to name a few.
Presenters will also include faculty from the St. Philip's College Natural Sciences Division, which features a number of experienced research scientists recognized nationally for their work in basic and applied physics, chemistry and biology.
St. Philip's College, one of the Alamo Community Colleges serving the greater Bexar County region, is a comprehensive community college. The college is designated as both a Historically Black College and a Hispanic Serving Institution, the only one in the nation to carry such a distinction. St. Philip's College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
