ST. PHILIP'S COLLEGE TO HOST FREE SCIENCE FAIR WORKSHOP
FOR AREA YOUNGSTERS OCT. 26
The St. Philip's College Natural Sciences Division will hold its annual one-day Science Fair Workshop for area students
Saturday, Oct. 26, from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in The Heritage Room on the school's main campus (1801 Martin Luther
King Drive). The workshop is open to students in first through twelfth grades, and parental participation is encouraged.
Admission is free, but space is limited. More information is available by calling the St. Philip's College Natural
Sciences Department at 531-3545.
The St. Philip's College Science Fair Workshop is designed to help students hone their research skills and general
knowledge concerning scientific presentations. Topics to be addressed include: selection of a research project,
accessing background information related to the project, conducting and developing research, and formatting and presenting
results.
The workshop will feature presentations and informational booths by representatives from the Guadalupe-Blanco River
Authority, the Texas Department of Agriculture, the Alamo Regional Academy of Science and Engineering, the Mitchell
Lake Wetlands Society, Holistic Resource Management of Texas, SAWS, and the Social and Health Research Center.
Presenters will also include faculty from the St. Philip's College Natural Sciences Division, which features a number
of experienced research scientists recognized nationally for their work in basic and applied physics, chemistry and
biology.
St. Philip's College, one of the Alamo Community Colleges, is designated a Hispanic Serving Institution and a Historically
Black College, and is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
