ST. PHILIP'S COLLEGE ENGLISH CLASS TO HOST READINGS BY PUBLISHED AUTHORS NOV. 5
St. Philip's College students in Freshman Composition II- Service Learning will host a reading by two of the college's faculty who are published authors, Diana Lopez and Olga Samples Davis, on Wednesday, November 5, from 11 a.m. to noon in the Heritage Room. The event is free and open to the community, and refreshments will be available.
Lopez is a teacher and author of "Sofia's Saint's," which was published by Bilingual Review in July 2002. Davis is an assistant professor of Speech whose works include "A Time to Be Born," published by Pecan Grove in November 1997, and the forthcoming "Things My Mama Told Me: The Wisdom That Shapes Our Lives," scheduled to be published by Waterbrook Press in April 2004.
Freshman Composition students are hosting the reading as part of a focus on small presses in order to gain insight into the works of published authors through question and answer sessions. Also this semester, students will publish the Artemisian Literary Review, a collection of student writings.
