ACCD, ST. PAUL UMC TO BREAK GROUND ON BRACKENRIDGE SCHOOL BUILDING RESTORATION PROJECT
The Alamo Community College District (ACCD) and St. Paul United Methodist Church will undertake a $1.6 million project to renovate the historic Brackenridge School Building, whose first floor will be used as the college district’s Eastside Community Education and Computer Technology Center. The project was formally announced Friday, Nov. 5, during a ceremonial groundbreaking on the Brackenridge School Building site at the corner of Center and Hackberry streets, adjacent to St. Paul United Methodist Church on the city’s eastside. The Brackenridge School Building is owned by St. Paul UMC. The restoration project represents a partnership between the St. Paul UMC and the ACCD. The two entities have been working in concert on a renovation plan for the venerable old building since August 2000 and are about to embark on the construction phase of the project, which is expected take approximately 12 months to complete. Project architect is Nored Shearer Architects and general contractor is Baron Long Construction.
