Wall Street Journal Editor Presents Lecture Nov. 18

San Antonio College will present the 25th Annual Edith Fox King Lecture featuring Scott McCartney, travel editor from The Wall Street Journal, at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 18 at the Visual Arts Center, Room 120, located on the SAC campus at 950 Lewis St.

McCartney will tell of his newspaper's heroic effort to publish a newspaper on Sept. 12, 2001. The Wall Street Journal received the 2002 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News.

McCartney is also the Journal's deputy bureau chief in Dallas and a weekly columnist for WSJ.com. He is a native of Boston and a graduate of Duke University. He spent 11 years with the Associated Press before joining the Wall Street Journal. McCartney is the author of three books, including ENIAC: The Triumphs and Tragedies of the World's First Computer.

The Edith Fox King Lecture was named for a former journalism teacher who taught at San Antonio College from 1958-1968. She also was a leader in high school journalism and has a special teaching award named in her honor by the Interscholastic League Press Conference, a statewide journalism organization for middle and high school journalism students and teachers.

The lecture is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Journalism/Photography Chairperson C.F. Hunt at (210) 733-2870.
