Palo Alto College Hosts Statewide Mariachi Workshop

Palo Alto College will be the host of about 150 mariachi students from across the state for the 4th Annual Mariachi Workshop from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, in the Performing Arts Building. The day will culminate in a concert at 4 p.m. in the College’s Central Courtyard. The concert is free and open to the public.

The intensive, specialized workshop, presented in partnership with the Texas Association of Mariachi Educators, will focus on instrumental and vocal training techniques, style and performance skills.

Jose Hernandez of Mariachi Sol De Mexico from Los Angeles will be the keynote speaker and guest clinician. Campanas de America and Mariachi Azteca de San Antonio will be performing and teaching the sessions. Other performers who will assist with the workshop will be Palo Alto College’s Mariachi Palomino and the all-female Las Altenas.
