STOMPING INTO A NEW DIRECTION
In partnership with the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center, Palo Alto College offers a new collaborative dance program. In their ongoing efforts to enhance arts education in the San Antonio community, both Palo Alto College and the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center collaboratively will offer traditional dance instruction for adults in the city’s Southside. Classes will begin in January 2004 and will provide Mexican Foklorico & Spanish Folklorico dance at Palo Alto College. Classes will be held on Mondays & Wednesdays, 6:30 – 7:45 p.m.
To celebrate this collaboration the Guadalupe Dance Company will perform during Palo Alto College’s International Education Week on Friday, November 21 at 10 a.m. They will perform traditional Mexican Folklorico and Spanish Flamenco. Admission is free.
International Education Week offers the opportunity for all members of the campus to attend performances, lectures and activities that promote an awareness of the significance of international education. It was established in response to President Clinton's 2000 invitation for all colleges and universities to, "raise the visibility of the importance of international education on all campuses through activities during International Education Week."
For registration, non-credit students can call the Continuing Education office at 921-5330. Credit students can call Admissions at 921-5270.
The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center preserves, develops, presents, and promotes the art and culture of the Chicano, Latino, and Indigenous peoples. The scope of the Guadalupe's programming is multi-disciplinary and varied within each of the following arts disciplines: dance, media arts, Xicano music, literature, theater arts, and visual arts. Share the Arts ... Di Que Sí.
