Palo Alto College Names Elizabeth Eguia-Garcia Director of Institutional Advancement


Elizabeth "Eli" Eguia-Garcia has been named Palo Alto College’s new director of institutional advancement, development and planning.

Garcia has been serving as the college’s interim director since last year.

"Eli’s outstanding leadership qualities and extensive experience in college fundraising made her the ovious choice to fulfill this vital position at Palo Alto," said Dr. Ana M. "Cha" Guzman, Palo Alto College president.

"In the past year and half, Eli has worked diligently helping us secure numerous grants, including our largest grant in the college’s history, for over $2.5 million," added Dr. Mike Flores, interim dean of institutional advancement, effectiveness and community development.

Garcia’s main duties include securing external funds for the college and its programs, establishing partnerships with key stakeholders for resource development, supporting fundraising initiatives and providing expertise in strategic planning activities to advance the college.

The Institutional Advancement, Development and Planning department is a newly created office formed to support the growing demands of the college for securing external funding and falls within the Division of Institutional Advancement, Effectiveness and Community Development, which is supervised by Flores.

Garcia’s other experience stems from working as a grant specialist for Northside Independent School District in San Antonio and serving as the director of resource development & communications for the Benedictine Sisters and the Benedictine Ministries Corporation.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English Communication Arts from Our Lady of the Lake University and a Master of Arts in English/Communication Studies from St. Mary’s University.
