SAC Music Students to Receive Scholarships

San Antonio College music students Jonessa Barios, Celeste Curiel, and Sergio De Los Santos will perform at the Gardenia and Musical Club of San Antonio at their holiday luncheon on December 6 and also receive $1,000 scholarships.

Assistant Professor Mary Lou Russell received the same scholarship when she was a San Antonio College student in the 1960s and is now Ms. Barios' teacher. At the luncheon, Russell will accompany on the piano the singing of Ms. Curiel, an award-winning mezzo-soprano who has performed at Spurs games. De Los Santos, a music composition major, has studied classical guitar with Associate Professor Terry Muska, and Barios plays piano and several Medieval/Renaissance instruments in the Early Music Ensemble.
