Shandra Lott
Shandra Lott - Brief Biography

The April 2007 Student of the Month, Shandra Lott, is a wife, mother of three, and full-time student at Northwest Vista College. A dedicated scholar, Shandra has accumulated 74 semester hours at NVC while maintaining a 3.5 GPA or higher. She is also on the National Dean’s List, Honor Roll, President’s Honor Roll, and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa.

In addition to her college work, Shandra is a leader on the NVC campus. She is a second year member of the Student Leadership Institute, where she served as CEO of one of the program’s major events that hosted over 100 participants. Shandra was responsible for coordinating the entire event and received excellent feedback from all involved. Shandra has also exhibited leadership qualities and service to the Alamo Community Colleges through her participation in the Strategic Planning Retreat, Disciplinary Action Committee, and the District Media Presentation.

Shandra not only strives to reach her personal goals, but also to help out in the community as evidenced through her recent “Neighbor of the Year Award.” Shandra also volunteers with Habitat for Humanity, mentors at Cody Elementary School, and volunteered at Kelly AFB during relief efforts following Hurricane Katrina.

Northwest Vista College Instructor, Marisa Salazar, describes Shandra as a student who, “holds herself to a very high standard and strives to reach her goals.” Soon meeting one major goal, Shandra will receive an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science in May 2007. All in all, her continued commitment to her education, community, and family make Shandra a unique individual with an extraordinary future ahead of her.
