Mr. Selso Casares is the first in his family of four (4) to attend college. Selso is a full-time business major, has completed 46 hours of college level credit and carries a 3.71 overall grade point average. While in high school he attended Palo Alto College as a dual-credit student. On numerous occasions he has been on the President’s and Dean’s honor’s list. He is also a member of Phi Theta Kappa, an honor society for two-year colleges and serves on numerous campus committees.
Last year he served in the Student Government Association (SGA) as Senator of Student Activities. This year he was elected and currently serves as President of the Palo Alto College Student Government Association (SGA).
In addition to his work with SGA, Selso also works as a Student Ambassador with the Recruitment Center. In this position he often accompanies campus recruiters on area high school visits. One recruiter stated “…he is a quick learner who has grown tremendously as an ambassador. His pleasant personality compliments his knowledge of the enrollment process which makes him the perfect individual for providing college information to area high school students.”
His Government instructor describes him as “… an inquisitive student who engages passionately in classroom discussions”. His SGA faculty advisor states, “He is conscientious leader who can be counted on. He always follows-through.”
When not in the classroom, serving as SGA president, or working as an Ambassador for the college, Selso volunteers at his church mentoring children.
Please welcome Selso M. Casares---ACC’s Student of the Month for November 2007.
