Northwest Vista College history instructors Cathy Briggs and James Puente will be attending two National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Landmarks of American History and Culture workshops this summer. The first workshop, "War, Remembrance, and the Civil War ," will be held at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, while the second on John Adams will showcase the historical sites of Braintree and Boston. James’s and Cathy’s research and experiences this summer will result in two Case Study Inquiries for the new History 1301 text, Through Open Doors, currently being written and compiled.

 

 

Northwest Vista College adjunct music and humanities instructor Nancy Staples has been invited to play co-principal horn at Opera in the Ozarks, a premiere opera festival outside of Eureka Springs, AR on June 16 - July 20. Nancy will play three operas on alternate nights: Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro," Puccini's "Madam Butterfly," and Carlisle Floyd's "Susannah." She will also play a chamber music concert during the last week of the festival.
