Goal IV. Capacity to Serve
DPS officers issued 136 Crime Prevention Reminders district wide. DPS officers responded to or generated 364 calls for service.

The foundation slab for the Palo Alto College Veterinary Tech Building was constructed. This is the first foundation slab for any of the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects.

Initial project meetings were held with Judson Independent School District on the Early College High School that will be constructed at Northeast Lakeview College.

The Chief Budget Officer continues to meet with Dr. Carlos Ayala to discuss aligning the FY07/08 budget with the Strategic Plan and moving ACCD towards Performance Based Budgeting.

The Human Resources Training Unit presented the New Leadership Development Program at the May 15 Board meeting. The program was approved for implementation.

The Records and Information Systems Unit conducted preparation work gathering data for Compensation Specialist’s Victoria College Workforce Planning questionnaire; provided support to the Employment Unit with initial review and certification of vacancy of District Services positions for PEP; provided support to the Compensation Unit with production of report needed for compensation analysis.

In the Information Technologies area:
Phase 1 of the migration to a new enterprise-wide email system was completed last weekend on schedule. There were 128,000 email accounts and mailboxes that were migrated to the new system. Phase 2-migration work is scheduled for this week.

We went live with a new WWW server on May 21. All ACCD web sites were migrated to the new system which is integrated as part of the ACCD active directory computer network. The migration was completed on schedule. Over a year was put into the planning and deployment related to the migration.

 

 

 

Goal I. Access To Higher Education
The Department of Institutional Advancement completed an MOU with Jordan Ford for a $5,500 gift from Jordan Ford to establish a Founder’s Scholarship at Northeast Lakeview College.

The Department of International Programs’ Dr. Eduardo Conrado, Mark Hagen and Veronica Murillo, UTC, will be presenting on “Increasing Competitiveness in the Global Market” at the annual TIES conference in Queretaro, Mexico.

Professor Karen Marcotte and Academic Vice President Thomas Baynum of Palo Alto College are taking a group of 15 students to Turkey on a two-week study abroad tour.

The Department of Athletics and Natatorium Services tested the freshmen class of the police academy. 38 cadets were tested and two failed. Swim lessons will be given to the two cadets over the next 9 weeks to assist them with the final test.

The Department of Student and Community Program Development Community Education Centers continue to participate in the “College Connections” initiative and related activities. CEC staff provided Financial Aid processing, and/or Accuplacer Testing to students at Edison, George Gervin Academy, Holmes, Jay, Jefferson, Kennedy, Lee, Memorial, Sam Houston, and Wagner High Schools.

Goal II. Student Success
The Department of Institutional Advancement continues work in developing a proposal to the Greater Texas Foundation to seek funding for scholarships for the district’s Alternative Teacher Certification Program.

Goal III. Workforce Development
Dr. Federico Zaragoza and Mr. Mike Morphew met with Dr. Dan Troxell, Superintendent of Kerrville ISD to discuss the establishment of an ACC Early College and Workforce Education Campus for Fall 2007.

Dr. John Soto, Director Business Outreach met with Cyndy Hanson (Brooks City-base) and Barbara Ankamah (City of San Antonio) regarding International Economic Development Certification training to begin in October 2007 thru January 2008. They are budgeting $75,000 to train 50 individuals for this certification.

The Central Texas Technology Center and the Westside Education and Training Center will be offering Production Worker Training Programs to 24 students in the Summer term, as part of the Department of Labor Grant.

Goal IV. Capacity to Serve
The Department of Institutional Advancement held training on May 18 and 19 for the ACCD Board of Trustees, ACCD Foundation Board of Directors, the chancellor, vice chancellors, college presidents and district institutional advancement staff in preparation for a major gifts campaign.

The SOAR team prepared the “Alamo Community Colleges’ Performance Measurement Management” report which provided data of the Chancellor’s Key Performance Priorities related to recruitment (student recruitment/capacity model), retention and completion (with alignment to Achieving the Dream targets), metrics, and remediation levels of First-Time-in-College students.

Goal V. Organizational Communication
The Department of Institutional Advancement: continues to collect sponsorship and scholarship donations surrounding the planned October 25th Annual Donor Appreciation Dinner; and continues work on shooting a creative video about student scholarship recipients. Video is being choreographed and produced by students in the Northwest Vista College multimedia program.

The Department of Governmental and Public Relations developed a voice message for district phone hold system which provides messages and information on district wide current events and programs. Efforts are underway to duplicate the phone hold messaging system at other facilities. The department has completed a weekly legislative report for distribution to ACCD leadership.
