Facilities Operations and Construction Management
Trees on the Palo Alto College Campus that were scheduled to be removed for construction of CIP projects were removed and replanted by the City of San Antonio.
Emergency Evacuation Plans are being posted in all buildings.
San Antonio College Facilities Department has purchased two electric wheelchairs that can be loaned to any college for use as needed by faculty, staff, students and visitors.
Department of Public Safety
DPS officers issued 121 Crime Prevention Reminders district wide as part of our crime prevention efforts. DPS was involved in 415 calls for service.
-Human Resources
The Records and Information Systems Unit: compiled district-wide data for the Workforce Planning Survey in support of Fox Lawson’s Victoria College study; completed Educators and Employment Liability Insurance Questionnaire in support of Office of Legal Affairs and Risk Management; assisted Training & Development Unit with deployment of Zommerang’s ACC Leadership Survey; and completed HR Department HRS Security Survey in support of HRIS Security Taskforce subcommittee.
The Compensation Unit: completed the Summer Faculty Loads for all campuses; and completed compression analysis for the Compensation Study.
Titan/Banner Projects
Reviewed proposed deliverables from AIM, Inc. for performing and documenting ACCD Student and HR AS-IS business processes. Determined that due to the desire to also prepare data flow diagrams and identify control points with our processes, further research into other solutions and consulting partners is recommended.
Contacted the University of Toledo CIO Joseph Sawasky and Banner Implementation Project manager Brian Bushong to discuss their Banner Implementation project lessons learned and approach used with Business Process Analysis.
Attended Office Depot Training as required by Acquisitions.
Goal V. Organizational Communication
Held first Banner Student “Group Team” meeting to identify benefits and pending implementation issues with 22 representatives from I/T, Bursar, Registrar and Financial Aid offices. Most noteworthy is that this is the first time all component areas related to the Banner Student system were gathered together to share and discuss their questions and common issues. Outcome and receptivity from the meeting was positive with the request to have more in the future.

Goal I. Access To Higher Education
The Department of Institutional Advancement completed a new Gift Agreement with the San Antonio – Medical Center Rotary Club for a $5,000 gift for nursing scholarships and submitted a proposal to the San Antonio Area Foundation for a TRIAD grant that would give SAC resources to assist wounded veterans returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan. This is a special program being offered through the San Antonio Area Foundation. We are requesting $230,625 for Year 1 and $237,975 for Year 2. Two-thirds of the grant funds (if awarded) would pay for personnel costs. We should hear back before the Fall Semester.
The Department of International Programs met with Domingo Castillo Moncada, Director of the Escuela de Ciencias de la Educación (a graduate school for educators in Monterrey, Mexico), on Thursday, June 7. The purpose of the visit was to explore the possibility of educational exchanges between our two institutions.
Goal II. Student Success
The Department of Student and Community Program Development Student Leadership Institute continues to recruit for FY07-08 SLI class. Summer orientation presentations are scheduled at PAC, NVC, NLC, and SPC.
Goal III. Workforce Development
The Central Texas Technology Center will be the site of a new Manufacturing Academy for Fall 2007. A total of 24 dual credit students have been recruited by the Comal and Guadalupe County ISDs for the new program.
The Westside Education and Training Center (WETC) has enrolled 998 students in credit and non-credit programs since it opened in early Fall. There are 160 credit students enrolled in Summer courses. It is anticipated that a second floor addition will be open to accommodate more students for the Fall 2007 term.
The Department of Professional, Technical and Workforce Education submitted the district Perkins application for FY 2007-2008 for $2,603,158. The Alamo Community Colleges received the largest allocation in the state due to the high number of students that are Pell recipients and are enrolled in technical or workforce education programs.
Goal IV. Capacity to Serve
The Department of Athletics and Natatorium Services was notified by The United States Olympic Committee that they will be hosting two U.S. Paralympic international swim meets. The first will be the Spring Can-Am March 25-27, 2010 and it will also be a World Championship Team selection meet. The second will be the Can-Am Open, Dec. 8-10, 2011.
The Department of Governmental and Public Relations in collaboration with Student and Program Development Department coordinated the “Data-Driven Strategic Enrollment Management” web conference held from 12-1:30 p.m. on June 12 at the Advance Technology Center (ATC). This is the first of four related web seminars. The next three sessions will again be held at the ATC from 12-1:30 p.m. on June 14, “Answering Strategic Admission Questions”, June 19, “Answering Strategic Financial Aid Questions”, and June 21, Answering Retention Questions”.
Goal V. Organizational Communication
The Department of Governmental and Public Relations completed end of 80th Legislative Session report that contains a summary of legislation that may impact the Alamo Community Colleges, copies of these legislative bills and their respective analysis; developed a Capital Improvement Program public awareness power point presentation that was presented before the CIP citizen’s advisory committee at their June meeting; updated Summer II registration and payment registration on the ACCD homepage and through PALS; and coordinated Recruitment Model Team meeting in which two representatives of the College Board presented a prospective student tracking system called “Recruitment Plus“.
