St. Philip's College Celebrates Juneteenth!

SPC celebrated the 142nd anniversary of the emancipation of slaves in Texas - “Juneteenth”. On June 19, 1865, General Gordon Granger delivered General Order No. 3 freeing slaves in Texas in accordance with the Emancipation Proclamation and the ending of the Civil War. SPC President Dr. Adena Williams Loston provided an educational welcome to an audience that included approximately 250 Kid’s Adventure Camp participants and engaged them in her address about Juneteenth. The celebration included food, kids’ activities, vendors and live entertainment. There were 300 students, faculty, staff and administrators who enjoyed the occasion.
