Faculty Spotlight

San Antonio College professor/counselor Jan Starnes, M.Ed., recently received a Superintendent's Award for serving on the Northeast Independent School District College and Career Awareness Task Force, which developed a college and career awareness curriculum to be used throughout the district from preschool to high school. In addition, Starnes arranged a meeting between key administrators at NEISD and SAC that resulted in increases in the district's dual credit programs and a commitment that all graduating seniors will apply for college.

Northwest Vista College librarians Linda Reeves, Judy McMillan and Renata Gibson have been invited to contribute a chapter to a book Practical Pedagogy for Library Instructors. Their chapter is titled "Keep Them Engaged: Collaborative Learning with the Jigsaw Method." The authors wish to thank the NVC Faculty Development program for allowing them to learn about collaborative learning and the jigsaw teaching method, which they use extensively in the library classroom.
