Goal IV. Capacity to Serve
The on-line surplus property auction conducted by Lemons Auction ended June 21. The ACCD recouped approximately $21,000 from the sale of 180 lots of property.

Installation of the precast columns, beams and panels for the SAC Parking Garage has started.

The installation of FotoWare – ACCD Photo Management System has started. This is part of one of the Facilities Department’s Process Improvement Plans (PIP). This software application is a District wide digital photograph archival storage and retrieval system that will be used by Public Relations, Facilities, District Departments and the colleges.

Fiscal Affairs conducted meetings with Dr. Leslie and the college presidents to review FY08 Budget Development and the Board Presentation.

Fiscal Affairs conducted meetings with the Compensation Manager to discuss the Compensation Study. Preliminary amounts and associated staff were released to the Budget Office for review.

The Treasurer’s Office, Accounting Operations, Grants Accounting and Chief Bursar continue to prepare for the Fiscal Year 2006-2007 Audit and Year-End.

The AR Process Improvement Committee is in the final stages on the “improved” PIP for Grants Receivables. The Committee has also begun preliminary work on the Student Information Systems Receivables. The objective is to complete the three types of receivables identified and submit the process improvement recommendations by August 31.

The Chief Bursar and the Titan Banner Project Director have met on the processes involved and planning for migration to the Student Banner System from the current Student Information System.

Information Technologies held collaborative planning sessions for the kick off and installation of the Vista instructional management system this past week. Vista is a rich, full-featured software system enabling E-learning from anywhere and developed by Blackboard and WebCT companies. Many of the Alamo Community Colleges’ faculty are excited about the enhanced opportunities provided by the system to support Internet teaching and learning. A small group of faculty is expected to pilot its use during the fall 2007 semester.

 

 

Goal I. Access To Higher Education
The Department of Student and Community Program Development Eastside Community Education Center staff administered Accuplacer Testing at ACE Academy, and the Westside Community Education Center conducted advising for WCEC and WETC students for Summer and Fall courses.

The Department of International Programs met with Helen Torres, director of distance education at SAC, to discuss opportunities to increase foreign student enrollments through distance learning.

The Department of Institutional Advancement met with corporate and regional representatives of Firestone and representatives of St. Philip’s College to accept $4,000 gift to ACCD Foundation for St. Philip’s automotive technology department. Discussed with Firestone internship program being developed by St. Philip’s and possibility of placing automotive technology students.

Goal II. Student Support
The Department of Student and Community Program Development Eastside Community Education Center continues to participate as Good Samaritan Get 2 Work Project work site. The Get 2 Work Project is designed to provide youth with exposure to the world of work through temporary paid internships throughout San Antonio.

Goal III. Workforce Development
CTTC held an open house on June 2, 2007 approximately 200 prospective new students participated in the activities. The CTTC initiated a new Production Worker Training program for 12 non-traditional students under the Department of Labor grant. In addition, San Antonio College will be offering additional manufacturing courses under their new Polytec and Manufacturing Technology Academy (MTA) marketable skills certificate programs.

A total of six classes with enrollments of 72 students have been conducted under the Ford Motor Company Dealer Training Program offered at the CTTC.

Goal IV. Capacity to Serve
The Department of Student and Community Program Development Westside Community Education Center conducted extensive follow up in the Center and via telephone, the Internet and Passport on prospective students contacted at Spring 2007 outreach activities whose status is incomplete relative to one or more admissions, financial aid, testing, advising and registration processes.

Goal V. Organizational Communication
The Department of Governmental and Public Relations produced an ad for the SA Post's July issue which features the occupational/technical programs selected by the colleges'; ordered radio spots to promote teacher certification programs at the colleges and occupational/techncial programs eligible for Perkins funds; produced a payment reminder postcard, with 20,000 to be printed, to be mailed to students who have registered for fall 2007 and not paid.
