Goal I. Access to Higher Education
The Department of Institutional Advancement has six sponsors with a total of $12,000 in underwriting support for the Senator Frank Madla, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund event scheduled for the evening of October 17, 2007 (efforts are ongoing). Save the Date cards were finalized and will be mailed early next week to nearly 1,000 guests.

III. Workforce Development
Vice Chancellor Federico Zaragoza met with City Public Service (CPS) and Pearl Brewery representatives to discuss opportunities for the Alamo Community Colleges to be the education provider for the Pearl Brewery Advanced Energy Program.
SPC reported that the McKenna Hospital Foundation has awarded $5000 in funding for a nursing lab to be housed at the Central Texas Technology Center (CTTC) that will be used for medical program training.
Goal IV. Capacity To Serve
The Department of Athletics and Natatorium Services hosted the Alamo Area Summer Swim League all star meet on July 3. Four hundred eighty-five swimmers from 25 local summer swim teams attended.
DPS went live on July 1st with its new Computer Aided Dispatch and Computerized Records Management Systems. This system will increase DPS’ capacity to serve by allowing officers to directly enter reports into the department’s records management database from any campus; reducing paper costs; allowing for quicker availability of reports upon request; and providing statistical measures of activity reported.
The Phase II Energy Cost Reductions Measures (ECRM) project kickoff meeting was held with our Facilities Operations team and personnel from Texas Engineering Experiment Station (TEES) Energy Systems Labs (ESL). The goal is to identify additional ways that ACC can conserve energy and have more energy efficient facilities.

V. Organizational Communication
Chancellor Bruce Leslie and Trustees Roberto Zarate, Charles Conner, and Dr. Gene Sprague met with the editorial board of the San Antonio Express-News regarding Governor’s Perry veto of $12 million for employee health insurance benefits. The meeting resulted in an editorial entitled, “Cuts in community college budgets hit the neediest.”
We have an increasing number of events and activities district-wide and are taking the opportunity to showcase such events on Time Warner Cable channel 98 and Grande cable channel 23. This section of the Chancellor’s Weekly Report provides a schedule of the programming for our regularly scheduled times of 12 – 2 pm on Saturday and 9 – 11 am on Sunday. Programming varies due to the timing of Board and committee meetings, groundbreaking ceremonies, etc. The programming for the coming weekend is as follows:
