Facilities Operations and Construction Management
Meetings were held with Judson ISD to discuss the schematic design of the Early College High School at Northeast Lakeview College. All colleges have hosted events to inform the public about the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects on their campuses.

Finance and Accounting
The External Auditors are performing interim fieldwork. The majority of their work in the areas of grant compliance and tests of transactions focused on Accounts Payable and Payroll. Their testing includes interaction with Acquisitions, Employee Services, Student Financial Services and other grant program managers both at the colleges and at the district. They expect to complete their interim work the week ending July 27. The Salary Compensation Study was received from Employee Services. Extensive review and coordination occurred between Budget and Employee Services to determine positions affected and associated dollar amounts to move all appropriate positions to minimum.

Information Technologies
Installation design and planning sessions to implement the Vista instructional management system was completed this past week. Vista is an upgrade of the current WebCT system and is provided by Blackboard which resulted due to their consolidation. Vista is a rich, full featured software system enabling E-learning or Internet instruction from anywhere.

The project to install 200,000 feet of telecommunications cabling throughout St. Philip’s College is nearing completion. This is a CIP project that will bring these telecommunication networks up to ACCD standards and achieve a much higher level of reliability and performance.

During the recent week, Kaludis Consulting who are doing an assessment of ACCD Information Technologies have continued to interview and lead focus group discussions with ACCD personnel through out the district. The assessment and recommendations are expected to be completed in early September.

Titan/Banner Projects Office
SCT Banner was onsite last week with the third session providing a technical overview and training for Student System Conversion. This session was specifically focused on our “Student Data Migration” approach with 27 participants representing our Student functional and technical teams.

Goal I. Access To Higher Education
The Department of Student and Community Program Development Southside Community Education Center provided an outreach presentation to GED students of the Columbia Heights Adult Learning Center summer evening program.

The Department of International Programs’ CASS (Central American States for Scholarship) teachers completed an intensive language and culture unit in which they one-of a kind, hand-made books from personal family and community stories. This project is part of an initiative for creating community-based local libraries from local history and culture, essential for creating literature traditions and reading resources in remote communities with oral traditions but no books. Teachers will share their many projects and plans for returning home in September.

The Department of Financial Services is working extremely hard to complete verification files of those students applying for financial assistance. Every week the department continues to award financial assistance to students that are applying for Fall 2007.

Goal II. Student Support
The Student Leadership Institute continues to recruit for FY 07-08 SLI class, including presentations to PAC orientation classes and SPC SDEV Adjunct faculty.

Goal III. Workforce Development
To date, the Westside Education and Training Center has served 1,242 students and the Central Texas Technology Center has served 1,174 students.

The Department of Economic and Workforce Development has worked with the Chancellor and Associate Vice Chancellor of Employee Services on finalizing a nursing brochure and letter to ISD nurses.

The Department of Athletics and Natatorium Services has 976 students signed up for the summer swim lesson program.

The Department of Institutional Advancements’ Joan Barborak has completed donor research on those identified by the Foundation Board as potential new board members or facilitators; first Foundation Committee on Directors meeting will be held Wednesday evening, July 25th.

Goal V. Organizational Communication

The Fall semester registration campaign continues with television spots running in nine television stations and ten radio stations.
