Department of Public Safety
• DPS officer interrupted a theft of vehicle parts in progress at San Antonio College and recovered and returned property belonging to students to them. The investigation continues.
• During the week of September 5-11, Department of Public Safety (DPS) members responded to or generated 679 calls for service.
• DPS officers issued 168 Crime Prevention Reminders district wide as part of our crime prevention efforts.
• DPS officers provided 14 instances of Community Policing services such as safety escorts, participating in student orientations to our community.
• DPS also participated in a City of San Antonio & San Antonio Fighting Back, Inc. sponsored Safe Streets Summit at St. Philips College on September 8, 2007.
Employee Services
• Benefits Unit held a New Hire Orientation – 4 attendees.
• Training and Development completed the initial screening and second phase of applicant process for the ALAS Leadership program. Applications of qualified candidates were delivered to the Presidents and Vice Chancellors for review.
• Records and Information Systems Unit
completed: System Master Calendar and Benefits Table update for FY08 rollover; position Cross reference updates for Northeast Lakeview College; Shift Differential updates in HRS; Comp Time record verification in preparation for end of year payroll; and sent a letter to each employee affected by job class grade changes since the Fox Lawson Compensation Plan was approved by the Board of Trustees.
Facilities Operations and Construction Management
• Design meetings for the San Antonio College (SAC) Mi CASA (Career Advancement and Self-Sufficiency Assistance) Center were held.
• Implementation of the Charter Van and Bus services by the Motorpool has started. Details are available to the users at the following url: http://www.accd.edu/ district/purchase/bus_service.htm
• Final details of the Fuel Card Program are being provided to the vendor that will implement the system.
Fiscal Affairs
• Completed public hearings for local mill levies to support operating budget.
• Began FY 2006-07 audit.
Information Technologies
• Completed implementation of the Blackboard Vista Production Server. Blackboard Vista production environment is being installed this week while a group of educators from all our colleges are working together to implement a unified e-learning certification program.
• Completed modifications and implemented changes to the new year position and assignment roll processes. Completed and implemented the new staff compensation study and applied the salary increases that were approved by the board.
Titan/Banner Projects Office
• Jill Weston, from Northwest Vista College, transferred to the Banner Project Office as the Senior Functional Analyst. Her extensive experience and knowledge concerning ACCD processes supporting students and enrollment services will bring much to Banner implementation effort.
Goal V. Organizational Communication
Titan/Banner Projects Office
• Made an onsite campus visit to Palo Alto College to meet and share current project status, organization and direction with 10 key offices involved with the Banner Student implementation. NVC, SPC and NLC onsite campus visits are being planned.

Goal I. Access To Higher Education
The Department of Financial Services has awarded $66,909,051 to 19,278 (unduplicated) students for Fall 2007.
The Westside CEC Coordinator and Education Support Specialist II conducted introductory meetings at Memorial High School, AVANCE-Carmen Cortez Center, and four City of San Antonio Learning and Leadership Centers (Benavides, Huantes, Velazquez, and St. Mary’s) to discuss ACCD-CEC services and programs.
The Department of International Programs’ Central American States for Scholarship (CASS) teachers successfully participated in an educators media workshop at the studio of artist and educator Susie McAtee, learning techniques to create materials for classrooms and school environments. In the evening they participated in the Returned Peace Corps Volunteers annual international cook-off. CASS educators from Nicaragua, Guatemala, and Honduras received special prizes for their outstanding country dishes! CASS teachers volunteer with this groups' community projects throughout the year.
Goal II. Student Support
The Student Leadership Institute Tier I program officially began the year on Thursday, September 6, 2007, at the ACCD Educational Leader’s Welcome and Orientation held at St. Philip’s College.
Goal III. Workforce Development
To date, the Westside Education and Training Center has enrolled 627 students and the Central Texas Technology Center has enrolled 498 students.
The new Community Health Worker training funded by the Texas Workforce Commission enrolled its first cohorts of 30 students during the Fall 2007 semester.
The Department of Labor Incumbent Worker Training program had provided advanced manufacturing training to 209 employees, of the 366 required by the Department of Labor, Community Job Training Grant.
Mr. Erick Akins has met with representatives with Antioch Community Transformation Network on the submission of a grant application to serve veterans and their families through funding from the San Antonio Area Foundation. Contacted US Department of Housing and Urban Development - Office of University Partnership to inform them of the District’s commitment to participate in upcoming HUD sponsored training in October.
Goal IV. Capacity to Serve
SOAR Director presented “Space Utilization Report” at Chancellor’s Executive Council Meeting, and the SOAR Team prepared the Fall Enrollment Update presentation for the Chancellor’s Executive Council.
Goal V. Organizational Communication
The Governmental and Public Relations office wrote and prepared for distribution a press release on the Alamo Community Colleges receiving the Mega Energy Saver Award for saving $2.5 million in energy costs and continued to develop materials for display at AT&T Center during Rampage hockey games.
