SPC
Instructor Recognized at 2007 San Antonio Black Achievement Awards
On Saturday, March 10, 2007 the 19th San Antonio Black Achievement Awards banquet was held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Pam Ray, St. Philip's College program director/instructor of early childhood, received the Achievement Award for education.
Ray stated,
I was already surprised to be notified
I was a recipient and then to be announced
as the winner." I feel blessed
to have been recognized with an "A"
list of other recipients. I share
this recognition with my SPC family, especially
as we celebrate our 109th birthday. I
believe that the motto of the San Antonio
Black Achievement Awards “Excellence
has no boundaries, for one who excels
cannot be ignored or denied” speaks
to the legacy of Ms. Bowden.
The San Antonio Black Achievement Awards Banquet raises funds to support the Calasca D. Murphy Foundation of San Antonio, Texas. The Foundation focuses its attention on scholarships as the best vehicle to encourage high school seniors to continue their education. Scholarships are awarded to outstanding students who demonstrate an appreciation of the importance of education through academia, extracurricular activities and involvement in the community.
