Goal IV. Capacity to Serve
All employees of Acquisitions and Administrative Services are attending customer service certification training which will be completed by the end of the calendar year.

DPS members responded to, or generated, 421 calls for service.

Methods to reduce the Facilities budget including increased energy efficiency are being identified.

Institutional Research from the Houston Street building should be moved to the 7990 Pat Booker Road Building by May 1, 2007.

Work on replacing the Houston Street Building roof is complete. The modular building has been delivered to the site at SAC and final utility installation is continuing.
Renovation of the Facilities Building at SAC has started. Construction of the soccer field at PAC has started. Banner Titan Project Team office space renovation plans are being prepared.

The Chief Budget Officer continues to meet with Dr. Carlos Ayala to further discussions on aligning the FY07/08 Budget with the Strategic Plan.

The colleges completed the final review of the Preliminary Personnel Register. The Budget Office reviewed the Preliminary Personnel Register for the district departments based on their input and appropriate adjustments were made.


District Departments submitted their FY07/08 Budget Development packages and information on base budgets is being compiled. A summary of all new requests is being developed for review by the Interim Vice Chancellor for Administration.

The HR Department continues to assist Internal Audit with questions as part the payroll business process review audit project.

The HR Department conducted New Hire Orientation for 13 individuals.

Titan/Banner Projects
Prepared preliminary Budget for remaining FY07 and forthcoming FY08 and met with the Chief Budget Officer to obtain review and guidance.

Met with Dr. Burmeister to discuss current Titan/Banner project status.

Conducting meetings with key personnel to gather overview and status of current Titan/Banner project activities.

 

Goal I. Access to Higher Education
The Department of Student and Community Program Development - Community Education Centers provided a total of 3,115 services (financial aid, admissions, assessment, information, etc.) to 1,225 unduplicated individuals and prospective students for the month of March. CEC staff administered Accuplacer to Southwest Preparatory Academy students. Additionally, presented on Financial Aid to a number of undocumented students at Fox Tech HS.

The Department of Student and Community Program Development Student Leadership Institute (SLI) faculty, staff, and students hosted 1 hour informational recruitment sessions district-wide. Approximately 163 students participated.

Goal II. Student Success
The Department of International Programs invited Gigi Do, executive director of international initiatives, and Keith Harris, record retention manager, from the Houston Community Colleges to meet with the international student recruitment committee on March 23. Gigi and Keith discussed their experiences with recruitment and assisted the group in addressing issues facing the colleges and district in developing a strategy.

Goal III. Workforce Development
Dr. Federico Zaragoza and Ms. Mary Crowley, Toyota, presented the ACCD-Toyota Partnership Model and Outcomes at the TACTE annual conference on March 29, 2007 in Austin, Texas. Approximately 50 participants representing statewide technical programs attended the session.

Goal IV. Capacity to Serve
Denny Ryther, director for the Department of Athletics and Natatorium Services, met with the superintendent and the athletic director of Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD to discuss a partnership for a natatorium on the new Northeast Lakeview campus. The meeting was positive and we will continue to bring other interested school districts to the table. We have also had a positive meeting with Judson ISD.

Mr. Richard Hernandez, director of the Department of Student Financial Services, attended the Sungard Higher Education – Annual Conference. In addition, two additional financial aid advisors were hired and assigned to Northwest Vista College and Northeast Lakeview College.
