Goal IV. Capacity to Serve
Acquisitions
• Effective October 1, Acquisitions has assumed vendor entry duties previously performed by Accounts Payable. Those duties include entry into Banner for employee and student reimbursements, and consultants, in addition to vendors.
• Inventory Control successfully reconciled both the General Ledger to Banner Fixed Asset Detail and the Wise Track system to Banner Fixed Asset Detail at year end to zero variances.
• The Distribution Center was set up to host an internal “Last Look” for October 9-12, 2007. An on-line public auction for remaining items will occur from October 16 - 28, 2007.

Department of Public Safety
• During the week of October 3 -9, Department of Public Safety (DPS) members responded to 606 calls for service.
• DPS officers issued 120 Crime Prevention Reminders district wide as part of our crime prevention efforts.

• DPS officers provided 28 instances of Community Policing services such as safety escorts and participating in student orientations.

Employee Services
• The Benefits Unit conducted a New Hire Orientation for five attendees.

Facilities Operations and Construction Management
• Meetings were held with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to finalize the construction of the Northeast Lakeview College (NLC) Kitty Hawk Road and Loop 1604 Frontage road entrances to the College. TxDOT is reconstructing these roads and will include portions of the NLC entrance construction as part of their project.
• Demonstration classrooms have been renovated at the 7990 Pat Booker Road Administration Building. These classrooms include a variety of whiteboard products such as Team Board, Smart Board and Wall Talkers. Different lighting systems with variable lighting controls have also been included. The demonstration classrooms allow users from all Colleges and the District Departments to work with these systems and determine which product is the best use for their applications. This has had a direct impact on Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects, where in several classrooms the users will only have one of the new whiteboard products and will not also need a drop down projection screen. This design change is saving CIP funds and will help the project construction schedules.
• The 2005 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Citizens Oversight Committee met at Palo Alto College (PAC) and received an update on the PAC projects and the status of Small, Minority, Women Owned Business Enterprises (SMWBE) participation.

Information Technologies
• A sub-team of the Blackboard Vista Training Team has completed development of two training courses in preparation for a pilot at the beginning of the spring 2008 semester. These courses will be the basis of faculty training. One course is for faculty that are currently certified to teach distance learning courses and one is for those faculty that received instruction for the new eLearning management system. It is being upgraded to a newer and more reliable Blackboard Enterprise Vista platform. This system will provide instructors enhanced options for assessment, collaboration, content sharing institution branding, third party tool integration, and enterprise reporting.
• Two IT staff members completed training on Content Management System. A project team will be established to implement a future Content Management System at ACCD.
• Our Network Team upgraded the Intrusion Protection System at all ACCD sites the weekend of October 6-7.

Titan/Banner Project Office
• Prepared a remediation roadmap for current ACCD Banner Finance application end-user challenges and issues experienced by Colleges and District departments. Initial efforts will be focused on identifying and prioritizing major challenges and pain factors via end-user outreach, then determining appropriate remediation solutions.
• Held a successful informal question and answer session with several key budget approvers at St Philip’s College as a preliminary end-user outreach and training support to the Banner Financial system. The outcome of the informal session was very positive and is assisting with the development of new course material for Banner Financials Refresher training.
