Donors and Scholarship Recipients Honored at Chancellor's Gala

The Alamo Community Colleges and ACCD Foundation, Inc. hosted the "Alamo Community College's Annual Chancellor's Gala" on October 25 at the Pearl Stable. The reception and banquet recognized student scholarship recipients at each of the Alamo Community Colleges and those who have contributed so generously in support of education at the Alamo Community Colleges. Gourmet desserts for the evening were prepared by the Culinary Arts department at St. Philip's College.

SAC Student Recognized with Wall Street Journal Award

Each year the SAC Business Department awards the Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Award to its most outstanding student, based on his/her attitude, image, individual growth and potential and academic achievement.
This year's winner is Natasha A. Hamilton, who was active in the SIFE club and earned three Associate of Applied Science degrees while at SAC: Business Management; Marketing Management; and International Business. She is now attending UTSA with the goal of teaching elementary math or high school economics.
"Natasha puts more than 100 percent into everything she does—she was like a light bulb in my life," said Val Calvert, coordinator of business management, who nominated Hamilton for the award.

SAC Student's Poster Chosen for Domestic Violence Awareness Month

SAC student Alejandro Gonzalez from Brook Rosser’s Art
Direction class was honored to have his poster unveiled at
Capitol One Bank to start Domestic Violence Awareness
Month. The poster, which is displayed in all Capitol
One branches, highlights awareness of violence against
seniors who are at risk of being abused. Rosser’s class
worked with the Task Force Against Domestic Violence
as a service-learning project, with funding from a Learn
and Serve Grant. Pictured are (l-r) Deborah C. Parrott,

Domestic Violence; Yvonne M. Lozano, Coordinator
of SAC’s Gerontology Program and Chair of the Not
