Goal I. Access to Higher Education
Congratulations! The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board selected the LULAC Parent/Child Scholarship Program to receive the Star Award (one of four in the state), which recognizes innovative and effective programs that help achieve the goals of the Texas Closing the Gaps Initiative. The construction of the Redbud Library and Resource Center at Northwest Vista College is on schedule and 15% complete, despite summer rains. At over 40,000 square feet, the three-story facility will more than double the current library space and will be readily accessible to pedestrians and nearby parking lots, as well as easy and intuitive to navigate. The project is scheduled for completion in August 2008.
