San Antonio College Math Professor Gerald Busald received the Texas Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges 2007 Teaching Excellence Award, which was presented to him at the recent Texas Community Colleges Teacher Association convention. The annual award recognizes outstanding classroom expertise, professional involvemen5, service to the mathematical community and professional development activities.

Northwest Vista College history faculty Brett Wilkinson and Nikki Casey are the newest recipients of the Wildcat Spirit Award. Brett and Nikki were recognized for their outstanding leadership of the college's Black History Month and Women's History Month celebrations, respectively. |

| Christy Woodward Kaupert, SAC political science professor, wrote a commentary "Higher Ed. Plan Will Do Little in Grand Scheme of Reform" that was published in the San Antonio Express-News and the Quorum Report. She also recently published a textbook entitled "The challenge of Democracy - Government in America * Texas Edition" (Ninth Edition) with associates from Northwestern University, Tufts University, Houston Community College, Lamar University and Texas Christian University. Her paper"Migrants Bearing Economic Gifts: Measuring Remittance Use in Developing Countries" was submitted to the American Sociological Association for its August meeting and was accepted by the refereed Roundtable Section on International Migration. |

Northwest Vista College librarian Judy McMillan will serve on the Program Planning Committee for the Texas Library Association's annual conference to be held in San Antonio. Library Director Christine Godin will co-facilitate a workshop called "Acquisitions 101: Tools & Processes." Linda Reeves and other area librarians will provide a panel discussion about how they are applying concepts learned in the Information Literacy Immersion workshop in their own teaching. Karen Weiskittel and Nancy Kaida will be attending special pre-conference workshops in addition to regular conference programs.
