All of Acquisitions and Administrative Services' current process improvement initiatives are progressing smoothly.
The warehouse has been set up for the on-line public auction of excess property from April 3 -17.
Facilities partnered with the City of San Antonio to rescue several heritage trees from the St. Philip’s College Capital Improvement Program construction site.
DPS officers issued 165 Crime Prevention Reminders district wide as part of our crime prevention efforts.
The Chief Budget Officer: met with staff to refine FY07/08 revenue and expense projections. Meetings and discussions will continue as preliminary data is developed; is working with Human Resources on providing alternative salary increase projections; shared the FY08 Budget Development Guidelines with the College Budget Officers; met with the Director of Human Resources for discussion on Position Management.
Carlos Ramirez, Mary Nell Bressel, and Gladys Jacobson met with the Chancellor to continue review of the FY08 budget development process.
HR staff met with the process improvement team regarding the Leadership Development Program and with the process improvement team assigned to review performance appraisal metrics.
The HR Director has had several telephone conferences with the compensation consultant in finalizing the compensation study and in follow up of upcoming meeting with consultant.
Records staff continue to meet with Internal Audit to provide information on salary calculations, adjunct and board packets as part of the payroll business process review audit project.
Web for Student support was set up for Northeast Lakeview College.
The Student Information System Financial Aid Time of Solutions was installed to support processing of Institutional Student Information Records for the 2008 Award Year.
The Oracle Application Server and the Database patches were installed into our test environment. Oracle Enterprise Manager and Oracle Internet Directory components were upgraded.
A program to create Achieving the Dream data on Northeast Lakeview College students was developed.
A conversion program to convert Student Banner data into the InfoMart data warehouse was developed.
The Titan/Banner director met with Dr. Burmeister to discuss status of contract with Strata Information Group (SIG).
SCT Banner Technical consultant was on-site for three days to provide student data migration and conversion strategy for moving five colleges’ information into one database. Outcome is that an SCT Banner- provided Converter Tool will be used instead of the many manual scripts currently being developed. |

Goal I. Access To Higher Education
The English Language Fellow Program (ELFP) held a two-day annual conference to exchange ideas on recruitment and promotion strategies and to discuss policy issues with U.S. State Department officials.
Goal III. Workforce Development
Dr. Zaragoza participated in the Floresville ISD Bond kick-off event for the proposed “Floresville Early College Technology Center.” Featured speakers included Dr. Bruce H. Leslie and Congressman Henry Cuellar.
For the Westside Education Training Center (WETC), Home Depot donated its landscaping services and supplied outdoor garden furniture for student use. In addition, the Blue Ribbon Committee of WETC will select a logo that will be designed by Edgewood ISD students. This logo will be unveiled at an upcoming ACCD Board meeting.
Dr. Zaragoza presented at the National Farmworker Conference on Best Practices in Limited English Proficiency for Latinos at the Omni Hotel. He also presented on “Workplace Literacy Models” and “Industrial Sector Skills Training for Latinos” at the same conference.
Goal IV. Capacity to Serve
The SOAR team continues to work on the Chancellor’s Key Performance Priorities related to annexation, recruitment (student recruitment/capacity model), retention and completion (alignment to Achieving the Dream targets), metrics, and planning and budgeting.
Work continues in Institutional Advancement on revising policies and procedures regarding facility naming for contributions and regarding fund raising from private sources.
Goal V. Organizational Communications
Institutional Advancement began collecting sponsorship and scholarship donations surrounding the planned October 25 Annual Donor Appreciation Dinner, including $3,200 in sponsorships and $1,200 for scholarships from 4 supporters. Continuing work on shooting of creative video about student scholarship recipients (with students talking) for presentation at this event. Video is being choreographed and produced by students in the Northwest Vista College cinematography program. (NOTE: October 25 is a date change due to restricted availability of the venue - Pearl Brewery Stables.)
