Pulitzer Prize winner Brett Blackledge, a reporter for Birmingham (Ala.) News who exposed corruption and cronyism in Alabama's community college system, will speak.

ST. PHILIP'S COLLEGE SOUTHWEST CAMPUS
10 a.m., Groundbreaking ceremony for the Diesel Lab Building, one of the $450 million bond issue capital improvement projects, followed by a Ribbon cutting for the newly renovated Special Projects Classroom Space, 2nd floor, Building 3020

Saturday, May 5

PALO ALTO COLLEGE
10 a.m., Ozuna Center Lobby, Awards Ceremony for the Congressional High School Arts Competition, sponsored by the Honorable Ciro D. Rodriguez, U.S. Congressman, 23rd District of Texas. The first place entry of the juried exhibit and the student artist will fly to Washington, D.C. where the artwork will join other winners from the rest of the U.S. congressional districts.

Friday, May 11

PALO ALTO COLLEGE
Veterinary Technology program Pet Adoptions. Animals that the students have worked without throughout the semester will be available for adoption at the Schertz Animal Control Facility beginning May 11. There will be an adoption fee of $35 per cat or dog when you mention that the animal came from the program. All animals have their vaccinations, have been spayed/neutered, microchipped and are on heartworm and flea preventative.
