Bereavement Notice

The Alamo Community Colleges offer their condolences to the family and friends of Bernie Zertuche on the passing of his sister Pauline Rick. Pauline had her home in Houston. She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Arthur, and 3 children. Arrangements are pending.

Summer Flex Schedule and Casual Dress

Summer Flex schedules for the district offices and the colleges have been authorized for this summer at each departmental director’s discretion. Every department participating must ensure the adequate staffing of all services is maintained five days a week during regular district business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Also, a 40-hour work week will be observed as part of flex scheduling to preclude non-exempt employees from inadvertently accruing overtime.

Flex schedules may begin on Monday, May 7, 2007 and extend through Friday, August 12, 2007. Flex schedules must be approved by department heads and the presidents and vice chancellors need to be provided a copy of the proposed flex schedule for each department to include designated key staff members.

As an added benefit for summer, non-uniformed district and college personnel may wear casual clothing during this period, provided the clothing is consistent with a professional appearance as required by a business environment. Meetings or other business functions that include non-ACCD personnel or in non-ACCD locations will require standard business attire. Staff may be required to modify their dress practices should clothing be determined by department management to be inappropriate.

For further clarification, please check with your supervisor to see the memo from the Director of Human Resources regarding these items. The entire memo will be posted on the Human Resources web page as of Friday, May 11.
