Goal IV. Capacity to Serve
During the last two weeks, more than 26,000 students registered for the upcoming summer terms and the fall term. 90% of these used web registration.

The Controller's area:
• Completed the annual Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System Reports (IPEDS) for each of the four colleges and the district location.

• Prepared draft interim financial statements for Northeast Lakeview College for the seven months ended March 31, 2007 for our external auditors review.

The Chief Budget Officer has completed the1% salary increase projection for any proposed salary increase for next fiscal year. Also included are the benefits required for the compensation study implementation.

The Chief Budget Officer continues to meet with Dr. Carlos Ayala to further discussions on aligning the FY07/08 Budget with the Strategic Plan.

The Chief Budget Officer, Carlos Ramirez and Mary Nell Bressel met with Dr. Leslie to discuss the FY07 Mid Year Report.

Gladys Jacobson, Mary Nell Bressel and Carlos Ramirez met with Dr. Dan Derrico to review the current status of the FY08 Budget Development process. Documentation is being prepared for Dr. Leslie’s review.

During the week beginning April 25th, 2007 and ending May 1st, 2007 Department of Public Safety members responded to or generated 367 calls for service.

DPS officers issued 107 Crime Prevention Reminders district wide.

The Facilities Department held meetings with the San Antonio River Authority (SARA) concerning the use of recycled water at the Northeast Lakeview College and with VIA concerning VIA bus service to the Northeast Lakeview College.

Facilities is working closely with Acquisitions on the advertisement and award of several preventive maintenance construction projects across the district.

In the Human Resources Department:
• The Benefits Dept. Manager met with MetLife representatives on Life and LTD insurance renewals;
• Compensation Manager and Benefits Manager met with UTSA Representative on faculty compensation;
• Training Department conducted Links to Quality Customer Service Training for 25 employees;
• Training Department conducted Part II of Links to Quality Customer Service with 21 employees;
• Training Department presented information on the new Leadership Development Program at the Chancellor’s cabinet meeting.

 

 

Goal I. Access To Higher Education
The Department of Student & Community Development, Community Education Centers provided financial aid, admissions, assessment, information, to 1,903 unduplicated individuals and prospective students for the month of April. Of these students, 1,497 had no prior contact with the Centers. CEC staff provided Financial Aid Processing, and/or Accuplacer Testing to students at Edison, Harlandale, Highlands, Holmes, Jay, Kennedy, Lanier, Memorial, Sam Houston, South San, South San West, and Southwest High Schools.

The Department of Athletics and Natatorium Services hosted the Texas State Middle School Swimming and Diving Meet. Over 200 middle school students from 29 middle schools participated. The Department also administered the final swim test for the senior class of police cadets; 39 of 42 cadets passed.

The Department of Institutional Advancement has is preparing a proposal to submit to the Motorola Foundation to seek funding for the Ozuna Children’s Library Summer Program at PAC.

Goal II. Student Success
The Department of Student & Community Development, Student Leadership Institute Tier II participated in leadership activities hosted by Borough of Manhattan Community College President, Dr. Antonio Perez, who presented seminar: “Leadership in a Crisis” depicting leadership actions on and subsequent to 9/11/01.

The Department of Institutional Advancement initiated work in developing a proposal to the Greater Texas Foundation to seek funding for scholarships for the district’s Alternative Teacher Certification program.

The Department of International Programs reports that Mr. John Thomas continues to take applications and schedule appointments for interviews for the English Language Fellows Program. Five applications have been completed and sent to Georgetown University.

Goal IV. Capacity to Serve
The SOAR team continues to work on the Chancellor’s Key Performance Priorities related to annexation, recruitment (student recruitment/capacity model), retention and completion (alignment to Achieving the Dream targets), metrics, and planning and budgeting.

The Department of Institutional Advancement continues working with Jim Lanier and the Association of Governing Boards in preparation for the training to be provided on May 18th & 19th for the ACCD Board of Trustees, ACCD Foundation Board of Directors, the chancellor, vice chancellors, college presidents and district institutional advancement staff in preparation for a major gifts campaign.

Goal V. Organizational Communication
The Department of Governmental and Public Relations began the Summer I registration campaign with advertising in ten television stations, nine radio stations, 118 theatre screens and a targeted e-mail to 66,000 persons in the MySA.com data base that reside in the zip codes of our service area.

The Department of Governmental and Public Relations sent direct mailers promoting summer registration to 6,200 Bexar County freshmen and sophomores currently attending four-year schools outside Bexar County, but expected to be home for the summer months. In addition, summer registration announcements are posted on the ACCD homepage and PALS.
