| Goal IV. Capacity to Serve
Central Receiving completed processing 276 Dell computers from the District’s consolidated computer order and successfully delivered them to approximately 230 locations in the past week.
Inventory Control completed the physical inventory of 15 departments located at the Houston Street and Sheridan Street Complex.
Due to the current capital improvement projects at each of the colleges, the Department of Acquisitions and Administrative Services has received a surge of requests for property listings. What makes this significant is that our Wise Track software has for the first time enabled us to email each list within 24 hours of the request as opposed of forwarding the bulky paper copy.
Preparations for the next on-line auction have begun along with the pick up of excess equipment and furniture from all the ACCD sites. This will continue through the coming week in preparation for our upcoming Last Look and sale.
At District Print Services, the Commencement Programs for Palo Alto College and St. Philip’s College were submitted and printed.
Two campus Copy Center Supervisors (Carol Fuentes--PAC and Michael Alvarado--SPC) have completed all classes for Customer Service Certification.
During the week of May 2 – 8, the Department of Public Safety members responded to or generated 423 calls for service.
DPS officers issued 134 Crime Prevention Reminders district wide.
Several Facilities personnel attended the American Institute of Architects National Convention in San Antonio.
Facilities is working closely with Acquisitions on the advertisement and award of several preventive maintenance construction projects across the district.
The Human Resources Training Unit conducted Part II of Links to Quality Customer Service. Coordinated preparations for the 2007 convocation and established the 2007 Convocation Committee.
Compensation Unit and HR Director met with ACCD administration on the mechanics of the proposed compensation study; Compensation Manager submitted the estimated salaries for compensation to Fiscal Affairs for the FY 2007-2008 Budget; Compensation Department completed the Adjunct Rate Survey with participants from the Texas Peer Institutions, Miami-Dade, Maricopa Community Colleges and local Universities.
Records and Information Systems Unit completed development of ACCD Leadership Upward Feedback Survey; Assisted Compensation Manager with E-request of Manpower Report for Dr. Fox; Provided support to Internal Audit in review of Position Control Process as it pertains to faculty; Researched Records Management E-documents Retention & Destruction schedules to ensure compliance; Continued I-9 digitizing project to scan hard copy I-9s on file; Continued discussion with Grants Management in developing Budget procedures for grants accounts.
In Information Technologies, initiation, refinement, and utilization of the Texas Common Application system are underway. Since March 7, over 17,300 students have used these facilities to make applications to the Alamo Community Colleges. Many of these students are participating in the College Connections program.
All preparatory work including planning, software development, testing, communications, and organizational readiness related to the migration to the Microsoft Exchange Email system has been completed. The data migration for the first phase of this project will begin on May 11. These are the first steps required in moving to a unified, robust full-featured email system for all personnel and students.
The Titan/Banner Projects area prepared a “tentative”, conceptual Banner Student Implementation three-phase timeline as part of the minutes from a May 1 Banner Student Admissions & Registrar meeting.
Department of Public Safety members responded to or generated 367 calls for service.

Goal I. Access To Higher Education
The Department of International Programs reported that all thirty (30) CASS rural teachers successfully completed their first semester of study. They continue to bring the international spirit of Palo Alto College to the community through multicultural presentations at schools in the East Central, Edgewood and San Antonio ISDs. They also participated in community service programs for the Mission Trail Rotary Club, Bexar County Extension Service, and the San Antonio Library Foundation.
The Department of Institutional Advancement met with several potential donors to discuss establishing endowments scholarships for students who will be attending Northeast Lakeview College in Fall 2008; St. Paul United Methodist Church is interested in establishing a scholarship fund in memory of Mayme Bailey Williams; and, the Motorola Foundation is reviewing a foundation prospects to secure funds for the Ozuna Children’s Library Summer Program at PAC.
The Department of Student & Community Program Development, Community Education Centers (CEC) continues to participate in the “College Connections” initiative and related activities. CEC staff provided Financial Aid Processing, and/or Accuplacer Testing to students at Clark, East Central, Edison, Harlandale, Holmes, Jay, Kennedy, Jefferson, Lanier, Memorial, Positive Solutions, Roosevelt, South San, and Wagner High Schools. In addition, the Southside and Eastside CEC participated in the Six Flags/Fiesta Texas Outdoor Classroom Outreach Activities and the Westside CEC conducted Preliminary College Enrollment presentations at Southwest Prepatory Academy.
Goal II. Student Success
The Department of Student & Community Program Development, Student Leadership Institute (SLI) continues with outreach/recruitment activities for 2007-08.
Goal III. Workforce Development
The ACCD Nursing and Allied Health Task Force presented their recommendations to Chancellor Bruce Leslie on May 8, 2007. Among the Task Force recommendations were that the ACC consider the use of Stipends, Career Paths, 12 month contracts, and year round recruitment to attract and retain Nursing faculty.
Dr. Federico Zaragoza participated in the Alamo Area Career Academies graduation on May 9, 2007. Approximately 200 persons attended the graduation ceremony for the 58 graduates from the Information Technology, Aviation, and Manufacturing Academies.
The Central Texas Technology Center and Westside Education and Training Center will be offering Production Worker Training Programs for thirty students, under the DOL Training, for the Summer semester.
Goal IV. Capacity to Serve
Dr. Eduardo Conrado, Director for the Department of International Programs submitted the semi-annual report for TIES. Under the TIES contract, ACCD and its partners have provided training to 189 maquiladora workers through 10 courses, six faculty from the Universidades Tecnológicas in Mexico have completed an 18 credit hour Masters level certificate on workforce education in higher education.
Goal V. Organizational Communication
The Department of Governmental and Public Relations presented a power point presentation on “Unifying ACCD Branding” to the Executive Committee that allows each of our colleges to show their association to the Alamo Community Colleges by including “One of the Alamo Community Colleges” underneath their college logo each time it is used.
The Department of Governmental and Public Relations continued several marketing and organization initiatives including: (1) summer enrollment ad campaign in television and radio; (2) created web site template for Internal Audit Department; (3) developed charts to visually present the Baldridge process as it relates to the Strategic Plan and the four drivers; (4) developed draft of Chancellor’s web site; revised “Legislative Update” web site; (5) posted seven district-wide stories; and (6) completed and posted the Chancellor’s E-newsletter.
