PAC To Offer Courses at SAPD Training Academy

Members of the PAC Executive Team and Steve Mardock, Chair of Protective Services, met with Janaé Florance, SAPD Training Academy Commander, to initiate the offering of academic courses at the Training Academy for the Fall 2008 semester. The consensus was to start two courses in the fall as a pilot, and then add courses as requested by the SAPD personnel for the Spring 2009 semester.

Somerset Seniors Attend PAC Access Day

Approximately 150 Somerset High School seniors participated in “PAC Access Day,” held on the college campus, March 5. “PAC Access Day,” sponsored by Retention and Support Services, was designed to have every senior attending fill out the ApplyTexas registration form; test; tour the campus; and receive information on services available to incoming students.

PAC Hosts 9th Annual College Access/Dual Credit Meeting

Approximately 60 educators from school districts in San Antonio and the surrounding counties convened at PAC to explore opportunities on expanding post-secondary education access to students not currently enrolled in dual credit courses. The Office of the Vice President of Student Services will review the recommendations received and will forward results to the President for her approval.

PAC Receives Multimeters from Fluke Corporation

Fluke Corporation has selected PAC as one of the recipients of two Digital Multimeters which will be used by the Industrial Automation Technology Department. The Multimeter allows for accurate voltage and frequency measurements on adjustable speed motor drives and other electrically noisy equipment.

Construction of Convocation Building Moves Forward

PAC faculty and staff user groups have worked with LopezSalas Architects to select furniture, equipment and interior finishes for the new Convocation Building. The $14.7 million, 46,00 square foot Convocation Building will have a 400-seat theater, speech and drama classrooms, dance and recording studios, recital hall, and scene shop. The building is scheduled to open during Spring 2009.
