St. Philip's College Scores Academic Hole-in-One with Scholarship Golf Tournament

St. Philip’s College funded 200 scholarships through its Inaugural Scholarship Golf Tournament at Pecan Valley Golf Club. An overflow field of 120-plus golfers representing 25 donors funded scholarships for 200 St. Philip’s College students in one of the college’s most productive fundraising events. St. Philip’s College enrollment is more than 10,000 credit students and 6,000 non-credit or continuing education students. More than 70-percent of those students rely on scholarships or financial aid to achieve their educational dreams. Access to college financial resources is a challenge, and the college aggressively seeks funds to provide affordable access to students attempting to enter into one of its 100-plus degree and certificate programs.

SPC Symphony-in-Residence Season Attendance Exceeds 2,000

The 21st Season of the San Antonio Symphony-in-Residence at St. Philip’s College surpassed a season attendance of 2,000 with the 600-seat Watson Fine Arts Center at more than 95-percent capacity for three concerts. The higher 2009 season attendance is attributed to new audience-building strategies such as free master classes, St. Philip’s College student soloists, and local school and symphony audience outreach by the college’s Department of Fine Arts.

SPC's 111th Anniversary Program Includes Observance, Tributes at La Villita

The St. Philip’s College 111th Anniversary program included an observance at the La Villita Historic Arts Village. This first-time event was hosted by the City of San Antonio and the La Villita Tenants Association as a re-dedication of the historic original site of the St. Philip's College building complex, including Bolivar Hall. The Tenants Association initiated the three-hour program for 200 distinguished visitors as a tribute tracing the beginnings of the college in the heart of San Antonio to the college’s current status as a diverse, historic and valued institution of The Alamo Colleges.
