Toyota
Motor Manufacturing of North America
has invested $850 million in San
Antonio on a 2.2 million square
foot manufacturing facility with
the capacity for the production
of 200,000 Tundra trucks a year.
Vehicle production is scheduled
to start in late 2006. Toyota will
employ 2,000 workers in San Antonio.
The
Alamo Community College District
has developed an outstanding working
relationship with Toyota. St. Philip’s
College Southwest Campus has served
as an employee assessment center
for Toyota. At Palo Alto College,
Toyota has equipped a laboratory
for the training of skilled technicians.
San Antonio College and Northwest
Vista College stand ready to assist
Toyota to ensure their success in
San Antonio. In addition to Toyota,
San Antonio has benefited by an
influx of Toyota suppliers that
will employ an additional 2,000
workers.

Washington
Mutual recently announced the opening
of a regional operations center
that will employ 4,200 people.
